October 27, 2009: Marietta Harrison, professor of medicinal chemistry, began her appointment as associate vice president for research on Oct. 1. She will continue to serve as director of the Oncological Sciences Center in Discovery Park and as an associate director of the Purdue University Center for Cancer Research. read more October 16, 2009: After a national search, Dr. Jane M. Kirkpatrick, Interim Head of the School of Nursing and Interim Associate Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Sciences has been appointed as the Head of the School of Nursing and Associate Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Sciences. Dr. Kirkpatrick will serve for a 5-year term beginning on November 1st, 2009. Dr. Craig Svensson, Dean of the College, stated "Dr. Kirkpatrick has provided excellent leadership during her service as an Interim and I am confident she will continue this high quality service as she formally begins her appointment". read more April 10, 2009: Purdue University's Board of Trustees approved the following faculty promotions, effective with the 2009-10 academic year: Kevin M. Sowinski, Professor of Pharmacy Practice; Chyi-Kong (Karen) Chang, Associate Professor of Nursing; David R. Foster, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice; Chang-Deng Hu, Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology; Rodolfo Pinal, Associate Professor of Industrial and Physical Pharmacy; Kimberly S. Plake, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice; and Alan J. Zillich, Aassociate Professor of Pharmacy Practice. July 30, 2008: Dr. George Sandison, Head of the School of Health Sciences, is leaving to become the Clinical Director of Medical Physics at the University of Washington. He will be replaced by Dr. Wei Zheng. This change is effective on September 1, 2008. The full announcement is available, as is the news article. April 24, 2008: Jane M. Kirkpatrick, Associate Professor of Nursing, has been appointed interim head of Purdue University's School of Nursing and interim associate dean in the College of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health Sciences. Kirkpatrick succeeds Julie Novak, who is stepping down as head and associate dean at the end of the academic year. read more April 23, 2008: Julie C. Novak, head of the Purdue University School of Nursing since 2003, announced today that she will step down at the end of the academic year to devote more time to managing the school's five nurse-managed clinics, the doctor of nursing practice program and her research. read more March 26, 2008: Dr. Steven A. Scott has been appointed the Interim Assistant Dean for Assessment and Accreditation in the College of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health Sciences, effective April 1, 2008. Marc Loudon, Senior Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs, will be taking a 6-month sabbatical and returning to a faculty position after nearly twenty years of service. He will be replaced by Dr. Val J. Watts as Associate Dean for Research, and Dr. Eric L. Barker as Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs. You can read the announcement online. Sandison, Head of the School of Health Sciences, is on sabbatical for one year. Dr. Gary P. Carlson, the Assistant Head, will be the Acting Head. Read the announcement. August 7, 2006: Dr. Craig Svensson of the University of Iowa has agreed to serve as Purdue's next dean of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health Sciences. He will begin his duties on October 1, 2006. (read the announcement) February 6th, 2006: Provost Sally Mason announced the appointment of Holly L. Mason (no relation), Associate Dean for Academic Programs, as the Interim Dean for the College. (read the announcement) Also on February 6th, Provost Mason announced the appointment of the Search and Advisory Committee to select a new dean. December 21st, 2005: John M. Pezzuto, Dean of Purdue's College of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health Sciences, was announced as the new founding dean of the College of Pharmacy at the Univeristy of Hawaii in Hilo.
